Important Update Regarding The Fairy Pools

IMPORTANT NEWS

Due to the significant increase in over tourism and the resulting traffic congestion at the Fairy Pools on the Isle of Skye, we have made the difficult decision to temporarily suspend visits to this location on our Skye tours.
 
The narrow single-track road leading to the Fairy Pools has become increasingly impassable due to the high volume of traffic and the misuse of passing places. Additionally, many visitors are venturing off the designated paths, causing damage to the fragile peatland and creating further obstructions and blocking the road for hours on end affecting local residents and people who work in Glen Brittle.
 
We believe that the risks associated with traveling to the Fairy Pools, including potential vehicle damage and long delays due to traffic jams, outweigh the benefits for our guests. We are committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all our travellers, and we feel that this temporary measure is necessary to ensure their well-being as well as the driver guide conducting the tour. 
 
We encourage visitors not only coming on our tours but others visiting on their own to explore the many other stunning attractions that the Isle of Skye has to offer. While we are unable to include the Fairy Pools on our tours, we will continue to offer a variety of other exciting itineraries whilst visiting the Isle of Skye.
 
We will reassess this situation once the road infrastructure has been improved to accommodate the increased traffic volume.

Head down the side of Lochness heading straight through to Eilean Donan Castle.

Over the bridge to Skye

Onto Portree

Lunchtime - Lunch Stop Portree

The day is not complete without a stop for lunch in Portree to try out the local cuisine at our favourite place to stop for lunch, amazing cakes and hot chocolate for desert.

Afternoon - Take in the amazing Landscapes and a Hike of The Old Man of Stòr

After lunch we take the road to Uig, up over to The Quiraing to take in the spectacular views of the Trotternish Peninsula, we then head down to see Kilt Rock and then take the drive to the highlight of the tour, the amazing hike up The Fairy Pools which takes around 1 Hour 45 Minutes from the carpark to near the top of the Fairy Pools then back to the carpark. You will be blown away by the absolute beauty of the weird and wonderful green pools.

My husband and I had high expectations for everything we wanted to see on this tour, and Ryan exceeded all of them! Ryan’s communication was top notch from the moment I booked the excursion. He allowed me to make minor adjustments to personalize our experience for what we wanted to see while visiting Isle of Skye. The journey from Inverness to the Isle of Skye seemed to go by quickly, as Ryan would frequently pull off at the best picture locations and small monuments where there was a historical story to tell. Ryan’s knowledge of the best places for lunch, sweets, coffee, etc. was the cherry on top for us. We were never in the crowds of tourists who were all trying to order food at the same time which meant there was no shortage of actual sightseeing. Not only did we have a great time visiting the landmarks, we also thoroughly enjoyed our time visiting with Ryan. With his interests in photography and history, we learned tons, got fantastic photos, and created a friendship over the course of just one day. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to see the wonders of Northern Scotland.

In celebration of my daughter’s university graduation, my daughter, niece, mother and I had an amazing 4-day tour with Ryan across the highlands and into the Isle of Skye! Leading up to the trip, Ryan was super easy to communicate with and went above and beyond to plan a route that accommodated to the lack of daylight hours as we were traveling in December. Ryan was extremely friendly and kept us very entertained during the entire trip, sharing personal stories as well as endless facts and history about the areas and viewpoints we stopped at. His talent of professional level photography was an amazing plus. His expertise made sure every stop was very accommodating to our different levels of walking and hiking abilities.
