Depart from your Inverness hotel and journey south into the heart of the Scottish Highlands on a premium spirits and craft beer tour. This day celebrates Scotland’s remarkable liquid heritage in style, featuring everything from prehistoric standing stones and intimate gin tastings to mountain-water ales and historic Highland malts. Travelling in the luxury of our Mercedes-Benz V-Class, you will experience a day that weaves together the finest flavours, landscapes, and stories the region has to offer.
Our day begins just minutes from Inverness at Clava Cairns. This remarkably well-preserved Bronze Age cemetery dates back 4,000 years and features circular passage graves and standing stones. It is a quietly awe-inspiring site and famously served as one of the inspirations for the Outlander series.
Following this, we stop at the Tomatin Distillery visitor centre for a welcome morning coffee. This provides a perfect opportunity to soak up the atmosphere of a distillery that has been producing single malt Scotch whisky since 1897 before our tastings begin in earnest.
Continuing south into the Cairngorms National Park, we arrive at the award-winning Kinrara Gin Distillery. Nestled within a converted farm steading on the 12,000-acre Kinrara Estate, this distillery crafts distinctive Highland gins using hand-foraged botanicals such as rosehips and rowanberries. You will enjoy an intimate and informative guided tasting experience in a stunning rural setting.
For lunch, we visit Aviemore, the most vibrant village in the Cairngorms. With its lively high street and spectacular mountain backdrop, it is the perfect spot for a relaxed meal.
After lunch, a short drive brings us to the Cairngorm Brewery tap room. Here, you can enjoy a pint or a tasting paddle of award-winning craft ales brewed using crystal-clear mountain water. From the rich Black Gold stout to the celebrated Trade Winds ale, it offers a wonderful contrast to the morning’s gin and a true taste of the mountains in a glass.
The afternoon centrepiece is a return to Tomatin Distillery for a fully guided tour. Once one of the largest malt whisky distilleries in Scotland, Tomatin today offers an intimate visitor experience.
Your knowledgeable guide will lead you through the complete production process, including the mashing, the stillhouse, and the warehouses where the spirit matures in oak casks. The experience culminates in a tasting of their celebrated Highland malts, which are known for their rich, fruity notes of honey and orchard fruit. It is a fitting finale to our journey before we return comfortably to your Inverness hotel.
Luxury Transport: You will travel in a Mercedes-Benz V-Class featuring leather seating and climate control for the ultimate Highland comfort.
