Experience the rugged beauty of the Inner Hebrides on a premium day trip designed for those who wish to explore Skye properly. This is more than just a driving tour. It is an invitation to lace up your boots and stand beneath the towering pinnacle of the Old Man of Storr, which remains one of the most iconic natural landmarks in Scotland.
The highlight of your journey is the hike to the Storr. Unlike standard coach tours that only offer a distant photo opportunity, we provide the time required to hike the trail, breathe the mountain air, and witness the otherworldly rock formations up close. Whether you want to reach the very top or enjoy a steady walk to the best viewpoints, your local guide will ensure the pace is perfectly suited to your requirements.
You can forget cramped buses and winding roads. You will travel from Inverness in the refined comfort of a luxury Mercedes-Benz V-Class. With plush leather seating, climate control, and expansive windows, the journey through the Highlands is as much a part of the experience as the destination itself. You can relax and enjoy the scenery while your professional driver handles the narrow Skye roads.
While the Storr is our star attraction, your day is fully flexible. We curate the route to showcase the very best of the Isle of Skye, including the following highlights:
The Quiraing: Witness the dramatic landslips and sweeping views of the Trotternish Ridge.
Kilt Rock & Mealt Falls: See the ancient basalt columns and the waterfall that drops directly into the sea.
Portree: Enjoy a 45-minute lunch break in the colourful capital of Skye.
Eilean Donan Castle: A photo stop at one of the most romantic strongholds in Scotland.
On our return to Inverness, we escape the main road crowds by taking the scenic back road. We shall stop at the historic Ledgowan Lodge Hotel for a brief break to soak in the atmosphere of a true family-run Highland estate. This charming establishment was once a Victorian hunting lodge and offers a peaceful end to an adventurous day.
Fitness Level: This tour involves a steady uphill hike that requires a moderate level of fitness. Should you prefer a more relaxed itinerary without the requirement for a hike, please feel free to book our Standard Isle of Skye Tour.
Personalised for You: If you have a specific destination in mind, please inform us in the comments section when booking.
Lunch Bookings: Skye is exceptionally popular. We strongly recommend letting us know your preferences early so we can pre-book a table at our favourite local venues to avoid any disappointment.
Departing Inverness, we follow the scenic banks of Loch Ness before turning west into the rugged heart of the Highlands .
Our journey toward the coast features dramatic mountain vistas, with photo stops at the serene Loch Cluanie and the towering peaks of Glen Shiel.
The morning highlight is a visit to the iconic Eilean Donan Castle, one of Scotland’s most cinematic 13th-century fortresses.
Before crossing the bridge to the Isle of Skye, we pause at the fairy-tale Manuela’s Wee Bakery, a charming hidden gem for a quick morning coffee and artisan treat.Once on the island, we visit the historic Sligachan Old Bridge, framed by the jagged Black Cuillin mountains and steeped in local folklore. We conclude the morning in the vibrant harbor town of Portree, where you will have time for a fresh Highland lunch at Gasta before we head to the Trotternish Ridge for your afternoon hike.
No adventure on Skye is complete without a stop in its vibrant, colorful capital. We pause for a leisurely lunch in Portree, where we head straight to our favorite local gem: Gasta Portree. Here, you can refuel with authentic Highland cuisine prepared with the finest local ingredients.
While the savory dishes are superb, we highly recommend saving room for their famous artisan cakes and legendary, decadent hot chocolate—the ultimate indulgence before we head back into the wild for our afternoon hike.
After a relaxing lunch in Portree, we head directly to the Trotternish Peninsula for the centerpiece of your day: the Old Man of Storr. Unlike standard tours that only offer a distant photo, we provide a generous two-hour and 15-minute window to hike the trail. This allows you to reach the most iconic viewpoints and appreciate these massive geological formations at a steady, comfortable pace.
Once back from the hike, we discover the dramatic coastal scenery of the peninsula. We stop at the Rigg Viewpoint for sweeping vistas across the Sound of Raasay, followed by a visit to the magnificent Kilt Rock and Mealt Falls. You will see ancient basalt columns and witness the waterfall plunging directly into the sea below.
To conclude our Isle of Skye adventure, we begin our return journey through the towering Five Sisters of Kintail. We escape the main road crowds for a final, peaceful break at the historic Ledgowan Lodge Hotel—a former Victorian hunting lodge that provides a perfect Highland end to your day before we arrive back in Inverness.
Quick Tip for the Hike: Since this tour focuses on the Storr, we recommend wearing sturdy, waterproof hiking boots for the trail!
